Here is a taste of what it is like to be at the Batalla del Vino in Haro, Spain.
Every year, the city of Haro celebrates the end of their week of festivals with the Batalla del Vino, the Battle of the wine in San Felices, a mountain top about 7 kilometers from Haro.
Everyone starts the party the night before and the next day hikes up to San Felices to arrive at the 8 am start time of the battle. The rule is to wear white, all white if possible, if not, a white shirt. Everyone battles each other with wine until noon and then heads back into town to run circles around the town square. But at about 11 am, everyone enjoys a traditional Almuerzo or mid-day snack of Caracoles- Snails and Lomo con pimientos- Pork with red peppers! All amazing food and wine!
Enjoy! Perhaps the next June 29th, you can join us in Haro, Spain for this fun and very messy event.
