Finding a Time Capsule I Didn’t Remember Leaving
I have to laugh. I serendipitously found my old Blogspot website, and it’s like finding a time capsule you built for yourself a long time ago, only now to be rediscovered.
I honestly didn’t even remember whether Blogspot was still around, but I did eventually find it, and I’m so glad I did. What a pity it would have been to have lost it.

Not many of you know this, but I am going through a pretty painful divorce from Andreas. Long story short, it just didn’t work out. After over twenty years together, we found that we would be happier apart, and that is that.
It led me down a rabbit hole to find bits and pieces of my past, to reflect on life. And somewhere along the way, I found this: April Uncorked.
Yes, I did rename it. It used to be “AprilandAndreas.blogspot.com.” While it features him quite a bit, these were my experiences, and I wrote the whole thing myself. I felt it needed a name that reflected that. Hence, the name change to April-Uncorked.
It is funny to go through and see the life you lived so long ago and how the younger version of yourself viewed the world. This blog follows my first year in the Netherlands and then my move to Switzerland. I had some pretty incredible experiences, and I thought you’d enjoy them.
This was all before I started this blog, where I focused primarily on my experiences in the wine industry.

I invite you to visit a little bit of my history. For a glimpse of what I was writing about back then, there’s my Christmas in the Netherlands post from 2007, including my experience learning about Zwarte Piet.

Let me know your thoughts and curiosities about this past life. Enjoy! I know I did.
One thing I realized in finding this is that I have lived such an incredible life, full of amazing experiences that have made me the person I am today. And for that, I am grateful.
